Lodging: Rivertrees Country Inn or Similar (B,L,D)

After breakfast we will load our 4x4 Land Cruisers with our bags without forgetting our lunch boxes. We will drive to Tarangire National Park main gate for registration before entering the protected area. This is the classic Africa of lore with shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, Masai herds and herds of elephants. In the dry season of June-October, Tarangire National Park surpasses the Serengeti in terms of animal concentration as big herds begin to congregate around the permanent water of Tarangire River. It is not uncommon to see herds of 50+ elephants as well as every other mammal species including the rare Kudu and Oryx. The park is also noted for its prolific bird life the occasional sighting of cheetah and the rare African Hunting Dog.

Lodging: The Plantation Lodge (B,L,D)

Get ready for an exciting day! after breakfast, you will drive to meet the Hadzabe bushmen tribe who are known to be hunters in Lake Eyasi. Upon arrival you will be introduced to your local guide who is also a member of one of the tribes and he will accompany you in the area. The Hadzabe are of Cushitic background and are very similar to the Kalahari Bushmen relatives. They still use bow and arrow for hunting and still speak a click-based language. Due to their nomadic lifestyle, it can be difficult to predict where you will find them but your guide will know where to look. They tend to shadow the movements of the wildlife as they are hunters and rely upon the migrating herds for food. Spend your day learning about their lifestyles and traditions and possibly visiting the caves where they sleep whey they are hunting. Later you will then meet with the Datoga tribe who are pastoralists farm then you will be able to meet the blacksmith to see how they make knives, bow and arrows for the hunters. In the late afternoon we will drive back to our lodge for sunset and dinner.

Lodging: The Plamtation Lodge (B,L,D)

We will load our 4x4 Land cruisers once more as we start driving toward the Serengeti National Park. We drive through Ngorongoro Conservation area and we will stop at the Olduvai Gorge to visit the site where Mary and Louis Leakey first discovered the remains of Zinjanthropus bosei, a distanct ancestor of man believed to be 1.8 million years old. They also found Australopithecus, a species that became extinct about a million years ago, as well as fossilized footprints that date back 3.6 million years. From here the predator-rich plains of the Serengeti reveal themselves as you go on a game drive through the park toward the central plains. Arriving in the evening at your bush camp just before dusk.

Lodging: Intimate Places Camps (B,L,D)

At this time of the year we expect to see the wildebeest crossing the Mara River as it winds through the Serengeti. We will game drive as we drive towards our camp and expect to arrive in the evening before sun goes down.

Lodging: Intimate Places Camps or Similar (B, L, D)

Our drive will take us to the rim of the Crater where we will be served with lunch as we enjoy the spectacular views of the crater. From here we will descend down 2000 feet to the crater floor. We continue with game drive and ascend in the evening to allow us time to arrive at the lodge in the best time for a cool drink as the sun sets. This natural Wonder supports its own resident herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra. Male elephants come to this place to find peace as the Crater is quiet. Hippos inhabit the lakes and pools while lions prowl the long grass. Birds like Kori bustards and crowned cranes are common in this area as are huge eland and buffalo. It’s the only place where it is possible to see all the Big Five in one park – Lion, leopard, cape buffalo, elephant and rhino
